GIS Technician (Duncan)

General Information Located on Vancouver Island just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) serves a population of 95,000. The district provides a wide range of local government services. Position Regular full‑time GIS Technician in the GIS Section of the Information Technology (IT) Division within the Corporate Services Department. Qualifications - Secondary school graduation plus graduation from a recognized institute with courses in GIS and Cartography or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. - A minimum of two (2) years of practical experience utilizing a GIS application. - Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and AutoDesk AutoCad in a local government workplace is preferred. - Valid Class5 BC Driver's Licence. Hours of Work Guaranteed 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m., with eligibility for flex time. Some evening and weekend meetings may be required. Salary Wage rate in three steps according to the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local358: $42.33 – $43.57 – $44.88 per hour (2025 rates). Advantages are included per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
