**Job Number****:** **54833** The Supervisor, Mail & Logistics is a critical operational leader responsible for the seamless movement of mail, goods, and inventory across the City of Edmonton. Reporting to the Category Manager, you will oversee a dedicated team of Couriers responsible for the end-to-end processing and internal distribution of external and inter-office mail for all City facilities. Beyond mail services, you will coordinate inventory transfers and manage the lifecycle of logistics service contracts to ensure high-service standards and cost-efficiency. **What will you do?** - Evaluate alternative distribution models and recommend improvements that ensure the greatest benefit to the City. - Collaborate across City business areas to identify evolving logistics needs and develop new service models to meet organizational demands. - Evaluate daily volume against internal resource capacity to determine the trigger points for engaging external courier services, ensuring service continuity during peak volumes or internal resource constraints. - Optimize the use of City resources by developing and implementing efficient routing, scheduling, and staffing models. - Identify logistics needs of client groups and develop cost-effective solutions for transporting goods. - Execute the full administrative lifecycle of assigned contracts (courier, freight, customs, asset recovery). - Foster and maintain proactive relationships with external suppliers; conduct formal performance reviews of financial, delivery, and performance metrics and lead the development of improvement plans or dispute resolution strategies. - Use data analytics to develop performance dashboards and reports to monitor key metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. - Develop and present performance reports to leadership and client groups, using key metrics to demonstrate team productivity and supplier adherence to requirements. - Ensure the secure handling and distribution of sensitive or statutory documentation, including revenue-sensitive mail and legislated notices. - Supervises, coordinates, and schedules the work of the Mail & Logistics staff, including delegating assignments and reviewing progress. - Resolve technical, personnel, and operational issues relating to transportation, logistics, imports, exports and business partner issues - Serve as the primary point of contact for freight, logistics and customs for the City and reconcile supplier invoices in accordance with contracts. - Implements and enforces internal and occupational health and safety policies. - Conducts safety inspections and oversees incident reporting, investigation, and resolution. **Qualifications**: - Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field - Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in: - Developing, implementing, and coordinating logistics service models to meet evolving organizational demands across a diverse landscape - Collaborating across business areas to identify logistics needs and develop new, cost-effective service delivery solutions - Managing the administrative lifecycle of third-party logistics contracts, including formal performance monitoring and risk mitigation - Overseeing high-volume corporate or institutional mailroom and distribution operations, including the secure handling of statutory or revenue-sensitive documents - This includes a minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated supervisory experience, with a focus on: - Leadership and relationship management - Operational planning - Performance management - Training and mentorship - Conflict resolution - Safety oversight **Assets:** - SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) - CCLP (Certified Canadian Logistics Professional) - P.Log (Professional Logistician) **Conditions of Employment:** - Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver's abstract. Must be eligible to obtain a City Driving Permit - Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position.
