Your Opportunity The Recreation Therapist III (RecT III) is a provincial role responsible for advancing recreation therapy practice to support excellence in patient- and family-centred care. This role plays a pivotal part in bridging research and education with practice to strengthen person-centred relational care and enhance health outcomes and experiences for continuing care residents and their families. Reporting to the Provincial Practice Director of Recreation Therapy, the RecT III leads and supports evaluation initiatives and the integration of evidence into practice across the province. As a professional practice leader, you will advance recreation therapy by aligning provincial standards with front-line practice, ensuring high-quality, consistent, and equitable care. RecT III acts as a resource, fosters networks and coalitions and collaborates with partners to strengthen role clarity based on patient, population, service, and sector needs. The RecT III will exemplify and promote principles, tools, and practices that facilitate knowledge creation, transfer, translation, and application. In addition, the role will lead the development and implementation of strategies that foster engagement and drive the successful execution of collaborative initiatives. Description As a Recreation Therapy Professional Practice Lead (PPL) you will advance professional practice for the discipline to support excellence in patient and family centred care. You will act as a key discipline professional practice support and resource for staff, programs and leadership in the zone or service sector for evidence-based practice, professional standards, ethics and legislative requirements. As the recreation therapy professional practice lead you will lead quality improvement, program development, evaluation and knowledge translation related to zone, service sector, staff and patient needs. You may represent the service sector or zone on provincial advisories, working groups, councils and initiatives. The Recreation Therapy PPL provides discipline expertise to clinicians, operational managers and directors to meet needs related to emerging trends, scope of practice, staff mix, service models and outcome targets. Minimum 5 years clinical experience in related area. Active registration as a qualified member with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association. Additional Required Qualifications: As required.
