Auto Body Painter/ Prepper (Edmonton)

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Auto Body Painter / Prepper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in preparing vehicles for paint, masking, sanding, priming, and applying paint with professional finish standards. This is a dual-role position responsible for both prepping and painting tasks in a rapid-paced body shop environment. Prepper Duties: - Perform complete surface preparation prior to painting (sanding, feather edging, grinding, etc.) - Mask and tape vehicles or panels to protect areas not being painted - Apply body filler, block sand, and ensure surfaces are smooth and ready for primer or paint - Clean and degrease surfaces to remove contaminants - Assist in disassembly/reassembly of parts if needed - Maintain cleanliness of the prep area and equipment - Inspect and correct surface imperfections before paint application Painter Duties: - Mix and match automotive paints accurately according to manufacturer specs - Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat using HVLP or other paint gun systems - Maintain consistency and quality in finish — no runs, orange peel, or overspray - Maintain and clean paint booth and spraying equipment - Follow manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols - Perform spot repair and blending as necessary - Conduct final inspection to ensure a high-quality finish Qualifications: - 2+ years experience in prep and/or painting (entry-level welcome if motivated and trainable) - Familiarity with paint systems (e.g., PPG, BASF, Axalta) - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship - Own tools a plus (but not required) - Must be punctual, dependable, and safety-conscious - Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Job Type: Full-time Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2o3ynp
