Salary: $3,920.66 - $5,276.07 bi-weekly (approx. $102,329 - $137,705 per year)

Overview Executive Council works to ensure effective strategic planning and coordinated policy development and communications across government, engaging Albertans and the broader global community, and promoting a vibrant and innovative public service. Communication and Public Engagement (CPE) is the Government of Alberta's full-service communications, public relations and marketing division, responsible for enhancing communications between Albertans and the Government of Alberta.

Responsibilities

Plan and supervise day-to-day operations of the communications branch, coordinating and monitoring staff and activities.

Act as Director of Communications in their absence.

Assist the Director in planning, developing, delivering and monitoring communications projects.

Ensure standards are met and products are of high quality.

Resolve problems that interfere with excellence in information and operations.

Lead and advise on consulting, writing and editing.

Coordinate cross‑ministry initiatives.

Provide solid issues management advice and guidance.

Manage or direct media relations activities.

Align resources with the goals of program areas, the ministry and the Government of Alberta.

Qualifications Requirements:

A degree in a related field (communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English) supplemented by four years of related communications experience.

Progressively responsible management experience, including coaching, developing, and leading teams.

Equivalencies (considered on a basis of):

1 year of education for 1 year of experience.

1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets:

Team leadership experience in a large organization.

Exceptional writing skills.

Excellent political acumen.

Experience with systems work, including building processes and tools for large organizations.
