Description
Lead Production Technician Net Zero Hydrogen and Energy Complex (ENZHEC) facility– Edmonton, AB. The Lead Production Technician operates, monitors, troubleshoots, and maintains facility equipment in a plant that includes Air Separation, Hydrogen Liquefaction, Hydrogen Production, and Power&Utilities.
Qualified applicants will lead a ten‑person shift team, oversee production across the factory, and coordinate maintenance activities to optimize plant reliability.
Key Job Responsibilities
Maintain a safe work environment and demonstrate leadership in Company&industry safe work processes.
Report all safety and environmental incidents and near‑misses.
Operate the facility, ensuring compliance with Process Safety, Environmental/Regulatory requirements and equipment limits.
Perform field checks on process and equipment per procedures.
Support and coordinate corrective maintenance to optimize plant reliability.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations and implement corrective actions.
Facilitate operational excellence and customer satisfaction through productivity, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain customer communications and relationships and maximize efficiency and profitability.
Prepare and submit documentation: standard operating procedures, internal/external audits, and management of change documents.
Monitor external contractors and conduct safety training.
Follow lockout/tagout procedures and issue safe work permits.
Execute plant logs accurately and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
Communicate at shift handover to ensure continuity.
Report plant status to other operators and shift supervisors; provide input for operational solutions.
Take direct action to correct abnormal situations and maintain plant integrity and personnel safety.
Assist with training and competency assessment of junior/trainee technicians.
Physical Requirements
Climb ladders and steps and lift at least 50 lbs.
Work in elevated environments.
Minimum Qualifications
2nd Class Power Engineer certificate highly desired.
3rd Class Power Engineer certificate required.
Minimum Experience
Production technician experience in refining or petrochemical facilities.
Plant commissioning experience.
Process troubleshooting experience.
Senior technicians must have experience operating plant DCS and hold a 2nd or 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate.
Experience with Air Separation Units, Autothermal Reforming, Steam Methane Reforming, Partial Oxidation, Gasification, Amine systems, gas turbines, steam generators, or large centrifugal/reciprocating compressors is an advantage.
Job Specific Skills

Mechanical, instrument, and/or electrical proficiency.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and 24‑hour on‑call responsibilities.
Self‑starter capable of working independently.
