Summer Student (Electrical or Adjacent Disciplines) (Edmonton)

Overview We are seeking a motivated Summer Student with a background in Electrical or related disciplines to join our team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience on various fire alarm and security systems within a dynamic construction and maintenance environment. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, detail-oriented, and interested in developing practical skills in electrical work, schematics, and blueprint reading. Duties - Assist with inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems - Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform electrical tasks under supervision. - Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to support project execution. - Support the team in constructing and wiring electrical components according to specifications. - Participate in site inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards. - Collaborate with electricians and other trades to complete assigned tasks efficiently. - Document work performed and assist in maintaining accurate records of electrical installations. Requirements - Currently enrolled in an Electrical, Electronics or Telecommunications program or related field. - Previous experience or coursework related to low-voltage work is preferred. - Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, schematics, blueprint reading, and low voltage systems is advantageous. - Basic understanding of construction practices related to low voltage installations. - Strong attention to detail and safety-conscious mindset. - Ability to work effectively as part of a team. - Willingness to learn recent skills and adapt to project needs. - Must be available for the duration of the summer internship period.
