Job Number: 55249Are you a natural coordinator with a passion for bringing immersive, live theatrical experiences to life? Fort Edmonton Park is seeking a dynamic and highly organized temporary part-time DARK Festival Production Manager to spearhead our upcoming season.In this role, you will be the driving force that ensures our signature festival's technical workflows, timelines, and budgets are executed flawlessly. You will guide an exceptional team of professional technicians and creators, transforming creative concepts into a thrilling reality for our guests. If you thrive in fast-paced festival environments and possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, we want you on our team!What will you do?Review creative plans to ensure that all lighting, audio, site infrastructure, and equipment rentals are successfully identified and acquiredFormulate and meticulously manage the DARK Production budget and labor schedules within established guidelinesDirectly supervise, onboard, and support the recruitment of the Technical Director and the technical support crewEstablish and oversee primary production schedules, including delivery timelines, infrastructure builds, permit schedules, and site mapsMaintain seamless, solutions-focused communication across all internal departments, art divisions, and external community partnersProvide bi-weekly budget summaries and weekly progress updates to the Event Experiences Program ManagerLead daily tool box talks with contractors and technicians to champion site safetyActively support event nights by coordinating and supervising the Production unit during live festival activationsOther related activities as requiredQualifications:Completion of an undergraduate degree in Drama, Theatre Production, Theatre Design, or related fieldMinimum of three (3) years of experience in events, live theatre, or large outdoor festivalsDemonstrated supervisory experience managing staff and/or contractors within a theatre or production environmentStrong background in production management or technical supervision in festivals or large-scale venuesComprehensive knowledge of audiovisual systems, lighting, set design, and riggingAssets:Experience using production management tools such as Trello to streamline team task distributionEstablished connections or familiarity within the greater Edmonton festival communitySkills required for Success:Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detailWell-developed verbal and written communication skills alongside strong interpersonal abilitiesRobust budgeting, accounting, and resource-tracking capabilitiesOutstanding problem-solving and conflict-management skills, with the ability to react calmly under pressureProven capability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse internal teams and external collaboratorsProficiency with digital tools, including Google Suite, Word, and ExcelAlignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusionConditions of Employment:Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton, and there may be a cost associated with this requirementAbility to work a highly flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours/overtime as required by the festival calendarCompliance with Safety Sensitive position regulations, including wearing required protective gear (e.g., steel-toed footwear and skin protection)Applicants may be testedWork Environment:This is a physically demanding, active onsite position that transitions with the festival cycleFrom June to August, the work involves desk-based pre-planning paired with initial site walkthroughs. From August to November, the role shifts heavily outdoors into a fast-paced, high-energy environmentYou will be walking on uneven ground, working in varying weather conditions (including rain, snow, heat, and darkness), and frequently lifting or carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.May be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement from June to mid August only with the flexibility to work both from home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time.
