Join MetCredit as our Controller. In this vital role, you will oversee financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and contribute to the company's financial strategy. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, your expertise will help us uphold our commitment to excellence in debt recovery services. Salary is negotiable based on experience Core Financial Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Accounting - Financial Close: Oversee general ledger activities and ensure a timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close. - Financial Statements: Prepare timely comprehensive financial statements in compliance with standard accounting frameworks (such as IFRS or ASPE in Canada). - Transaction Management: Supervise cash cage, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and cost & revenue accounting. - Reconciliations: Oversee timely reconciliations of a high volume of financial transactions in both operating and trust accounts. Compliance, Tax, & Risk Management - Tax Compliance: Manage the Federal and Provincial filing of income tax returns, corporate taxes, and statutory government remittances - Audit Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors to facilitate annual audits and resolve findings - Internal Controls: Establish, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud Financial Planning & Analysis - Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate the budget process for Board/CEO/Executive Management , monitor budget variances and summarize spending trends. - Financial Analysis: Produce cost-benefit analyses, cash flow projections, and various reports that help senior management assess business performance. Team Leadership - Staff Management: Recruit, train, lead, and develop the accounting and finance team. - Culture & Communication: Foster a positive, collaborative and supportive team setting while acting as a bridge for internal communications between the accounting department, executive leadership and other areas of the company. - Process Optimization: Identify inefficiencies and execute change management strategies to ensure the accounting team successfully adopts Sage Intacct during the planned migration from Microsoft Dynamics GP. - Client Interaction: Collaboration with accounting, client services, and sales teams when required on escalated issues with billing whether unpaid or remittance discrepancies. Accounting Software & Work Management Tools Experience: Required - Microsoft Suite - Strong Excel knowledge - Intuit Quickbooks - Microsoft Dynamics, GP (Great Plains) - Sage Intacct.
