**Position Description & Qualifications** **Position Summary:** As Serco expands its programs and partnerships in Canada, we are seeking dedicated and empathetic Peer Mentors to strengthen job seeker engagement and support workforce attachment across Alberta. This role is pivotal in fostering trust, motivation, and resilience among individuals navigating employment barriers. Peer Mentors provide relationship-based, lived-ex perience support to Job Seekersu2014enhancing engagement, trust, retention, and sustainment. Serving Stream C or DES-equivalent populations, this role ensures emotional and motivational support, complementing but not replacing formal case management. It aligns with Albertau2019s Transition to Employment Services guidelines focused on job attachment and retention. The Peer Mentor role strengthens emotional safety, motivation, and persistence by walking alongside Job Seekers who may experience distrust of systems, disengagement, or fear of failure. Peer Mentors draw on their lived experience to normalize challenges, reinforce hope, and guide Job Seekers through critical transition points such as re-engagement, job placement, and early employment sustainment. **Core Responsibilities:** Build trusting, non-judgmental relationships grounded in lived experience and shared understanding. Provide individualized mentorship and practical guidance while maintaining skilled boundaries; refer clinical or systemic issues to qualified staff. Promote engagement and retention by addressing motivational or confidence barriers and reinforcing action plan goals. Assist Job Seekers during transitional phases such as starting employment or returning after setbacks. Model resilience, self-advocacy, and problem-solving strategies. Collaborate with Case Managers and Service Navigators for warm handovers and integrated care. Document all peer support interactions in Compass or approved systems and ensure accurate reporting of activities and outcomes. **Qualifications:** **Lived experience relevant to Stream C or DES-equivalent populations, including personal insight into barriers such as disability, mental health, addictions, or justice involvement u2013 3 months (minimum 6 months preferred).** **Training in mentorship, coaching, peer support, or community engagement, with an emphasis on trauma-informed and culturally safe practices u2013 N/A.** **Demonstrated ability to support Retention and Sustainment through relationship-based approaches that promote emotional safety, trust, and empowerment u2013 3 months.** Awareness of Albertau2019s Transition to Employment Services program structure and compliance requirements. Strong communication, boundary management, and collaboration skills. Competence in using Compass and Alberta-approved reporting tools for documentation and metrics tracking. **Demonstrated ability to:** Drive job seeker engagement and satisfaction. Contribute to retention and employment sustainment. Facilitate successful access and use of Alberta-funded training and support programs. Ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting.
