Kalkatic Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Forensic Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Edmonton. This position offers the prospect to lead technically challenging projects, collaborate directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the continued growth of a dynamic engineering firm. The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery, technical leadership, and maintaining the high standards our clients expect. What you'll do: - Lead structural design for commercial, institutional, and mid-rise building projects - Act as Engineer of Record and prepare, review, and seal structural drawings and calculations - Coordinate structural systems with architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines - Conduct site reviews, respond to RFIs, and review shop drawings during construction - Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and technologists - Attend client meetings and present technical recommendations - Support proposal preparation, project scoping, and fee development - Maintain quality control and internal design review standards What you'll need: - Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering - P.Eng designation with APEGA - Minimum 8 years of structural engineering experience in building projects - Experience acting as Engineer of Record on permit and IFC packages - Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, RAM, or equivalent structural analysis software - Strong knowledge of NBC, NBCC, and Alberta Building Code - Experience with steel, concrete, timber, and masonry design - Strong written and verbal communication skills Nice to have: - Forensic or investigative engineering experience - Post-tensioned concrete or mass timber experience - Seismic design exposure - Healthcare, civic, or institutional project experience - Structural peer review experience - Project management experience or designation What We Offer: - Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience - Annual performance bonus and RRSP matching - Comprehensive health and dental benefits from day one - Paid professional development and APEGA membership dues - Prospect for long-term professional growth - Exposure to meaningful and technically complex projects across Alberta and beyond - Collaborative and supportive team environment About Kalkatic Engineering Ltd.
