Job Summary

PetSmart’s Pet Stylist in Training is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and best in class salon services. The position is trained in full grooming menu under supervision from professional styling teams and supports store cleanliness, pet safety and the company’s vision.Essential Responsibilities

Performs the full menu of bath, brush, and grooming services and standalone services such as nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services in accordance with PetSmart’s standards and procedures. Develops and displays safe technical skills that meet or exceed the company’s minimum expectations.Recommends additional health and wellness solutions to pet parents based on pets’ needs. Manages the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone, and at the sales register. Greets pet parents, answers questions, and assists with salon reservations. Conducts appointment reminder calls, maintains client records, and consults with pet parents on services offered.Performs check‑in and check‑out procedures for grooming appointments, including paperwork and rebooking. Promotes opportunities to grow salon sales to help achieve sales targets and productivity metrics. Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise and services. Maintains the highest level of cleanliness, sanitation, and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area, including end‑of‑day cleaning per the maintenance checklist.Responds immediately when a sick or injured pet is identified, transporting the pet to a vet when needed. Assists and works in other departments as required and may be assigned additional duties. Participates in the culture of belonging and recognition. Follows all company policies and procedures.Qualifications

Successful completion of PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification program. Prior grooming experience preferred; may be asked to complete a technical exam. Proficiency in computer applications. Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure. Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and safety measures. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Essential Physical Demands and Work Environment

Requires standing, walking, climbing a ladder, and using hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc.; frequent reaching with hands and arms (stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing). Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet environment with pet hair, moderate to high noise levels, and live animal handling.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
