Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant (EA) to join our Secondary Division. As a growing pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 school, EIA offers a supportive and collaborative environment where staff play a vital role in supporting student achievement and well-being.The successful candidate will provide instruction and behavior support to junior high and/or high school students under the direction of the classroom teacher. This role includes working one-on-one or in small groups to support students in achieving their academic, social, and personal goals through individualized programming and team collaboration.Key Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students based on individualized learning plans Assist students in developing academic skills, organization, and independence Support student behavior using positive and proactive strategies Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to implement instructional plansAssist with classroom preparation, organization, and resource development Support students during classes, exams, transitions, and non-instructional times Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student progress and needs Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environmentQualifications, Education&Experience
Educational Assistant Certificate or related post-secondary education is an asset Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working with adolescents or students with diverse learning needs Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training is an asset Additional coursework related to special education or supporting students with diverse needs is an assetSkills&Competencies
Strong communication and active listening skills Excellent interpersonal skills with tact, patience, and professionalism Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to support multiple students and schedules Reliable, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a teamComfortable using technology (e.g., Chromebooks, Google platforms) to support student learning Ability to respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviors Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced setting Respect for diversity and commitment to inclusive education Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the school communityRequired Documents (Upon Hire)
