The Opportunity Women Building Futures (WBF) is a high-impact non-profit that equips women for economic prosperity through industry-recognized trades training. We are building a future where more women access opportunity, advance in underrepresented industries, and transform their lives and communities.
Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, the Senior Manager, Marketing&Communications is a strategic leader who will shape how WBF engages prospective students, employer partners, donors, and philanthropic stakeholders.
This role sets and drives integrated marketing, brand, storytelling, and communications strategies that expand awareness, strengthen enrollment and alumni engagement, and increase investment in WBF’s mission.
You will elevate WBF’s voice, reputation, and market presence while strengthening the case for support among individual, corporate, and community partners.
With strong creative judgment and a sharp instinct for storytelling, you will build a proactive, insight-led function that delivers compelling campaigns, clear market positioning, and measurable impact.
What You’ll Do Strategy and Leadership
Set and deliver the annual marketing and communications strategy in alignment with WBF’s strategic and business priorities.
Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks that drive accountability, optimize performance, and inform executive decision-making.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing two-person team within a lean, high-autonomy environment.
Translate organizational growth objectives into clear, focused marketing and communications priorities.
Brand, Creative Direction and Storytelling
Lead integrated campaigns across digital, social, email, PR, events, and paid media to advance student recruitment, stakeholder engagement, and fundraising goals.
Strengthen WBF’s audience strategy, data practices, and mailing lists to deepen engagement and expand reach.
Direct the development of content and storytelling that resonates with students, corporate stakeholders, donors, and the broader community.
Internal Partnerships
Serve as a strategic advisor to internal teams, bringing clarity, discipline, and sound judgment to competing priorities.
Build strong cross-organizational partnerships while managing requests with focus and consistency.
Partner with senior leadership on communications initiatives, media relations, reputation management, and spokesperson support.
Vendor Management and Production
Lead external partners across creative, video, design, production, and media planning to deliver high-quality work.
Oversee the development of key deliverables, including campaigns, annual reports, video assets, and core marketing collateral.
What You’ll Bring Leadership and Strategy
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, communications, or brand strategy.
Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic plans, budgets, and performance reporting.
Experience leading teams in small to mid-sized, fast-paced organizations.
Creative and Communication Excellence
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with the ability to influence students, partners, donors, and media.
Strong creative direction, visual judgment, and experience shaping story-driven content across social and video channels.
A proven ability to protect and elevate brand consistency across multiple stakeholders and touchpoints.
Technical and Functional Expertise
Experience across integrated marketing channels, including digital, social, email, PR, and campaigns.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and social platforms.
Strong project management, planning, budgeting, and vendor leadership skills.
Additional Assets
Experience in the non-profit or social impact sector.
Familiarity with industries where women are underrepresented and the barriers women may face in employment and education.
Ability to art direct photo and video shoots.
