Overview of the Role Our organization is an Indigenous-led non-profit charity committed to providing affordable, dignified, and culturally safe housing to individuals who have not been successfully housed elsewhere. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Treasury Accountant plays a critical stewardship role within our Finance team. You will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s cash management functions, ensuring the financial resources that sustain our housing programs are properly tracked, reconciled, and reported. Key Responsibilities Cash Management & Bank Reconciliation - Perform and review monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of cash balances; promptly investigate and resolve reconciling items such as outstanding cheques, deposits in transit, and bank errors. - Monitor daily cash balances and cash positions across all bank accounts, identifying variances and escalating material discrepancies to the Director of Finance. Payments & Credit Card Administration - Manage credit card reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are properly coded, supported by receipts, and approved in accordance with organizational policy. - Process payment batches and electronic funds transfers (EFTs), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to payment schedules. - Liaise with vendors, staff, and banking partners to resolve payment discrepancies and inquiries in a timely manner. Systems & Process Improvement - Maintain and leverage QuickBooks (desktop or online) for all treasury and accounting functions, ensuring data integrity and accurate chart of accounts coding. - Identify opportunities to improve treasury processes, internal controls, and financial workflows to strengthen the organization’s financial management capacity. - Support cross-functional finance projects and other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager. What You Bring to the Role Education & Experience - Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. - Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated expertise in bank reconciliations, cash management, and accounts payable functions. - Prior experience working in a non-profit, charitable, or mission-driven organization is a significant advantage. Technical Skills - Proven, hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks (desktop and/or online); ability to navigate, code, and report within the system independently and accurately. - Solid working knowledge of accrual-based accounting and non-profit financial reporting requirements. - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP. - Experience processing EFTs, managing multi-account banking environments, and working with online banking platforms. Working Conditions & Additional Information This is a full-time, on-site position based at our administrative office.
