Senior Surveyor (Edmonton)

We are seeking an experienced Surveyor to join our Edmonton Community Development Survey Team, involving active construction sites across Central Alberta. The role requires technical survey execution, quality assurance, project coordination, mentorship, site audits, equipment management, and proposal support. Responsibilities - Oversee and perform field survey activities for preliminary/topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys. - Assist with QA/QC processes, workflows, and documentation standards. - Provide support to project administrators and managers on land/community development projects. - Mentor field survey crews and guide skill development. - Conduct site audits, verify accuracy and safety compliance, and document findings. - Manage survey equipment and materials, ensuring calibration and availability. - Attend and coordinate field meetings. - Provide technical support and troubleshoot on-site issues. - Prepare survey estimates and quotations for proposals. - Stay current with market trends and emerging technologies. - Assist with project close‑out requirements and certification tracking. Qualifications - Diploma or degree in Geomatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Design and Drafting Technology, or a related field. CST designation with equivalent experience considered. - 3–5 years of relevant surveying experience in civil, municipal, or land development projects. - Hands‑on experience with GPS receivers, total stations, levels, and associated software. - Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for survey data processing and drawing production. - Advanced user of Trimble Access and familiarity with Trimble Business Center. - Strong computer skills and standard office software proficiency. - Excellent attention to detail, methodical approach, and organizational/time‑management skills. - Effective communication and leadership abilities, including mentoring and client interaction. - Commitment to safety and quality on job sites. - Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license and willingness to travel within Central Alberta. Bonus Points - Design and drafting experience. - Aerial drone, laser scanner, or bathymetric survey experience. - Construction inspection experience. - Legal survey experience. - Pix4D point cloud processing or lidar/laser scanning familiarity.
