Senior Coordinator, Strategy and Initiatives Office of the President, Competition No. 26.05.96 Full‑time continuing (35 hours per week). Salary: $92,914 to $125,608 per annum. Closing Date: May 19, 2026. Position Overview MacEwan University is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Strategy and Initiatives for a full‑time continuing opportunity with the Office of the President. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will provide strategic, operational, and project leadership to advance institutional priorities. In this role, you will lead complex, high‑profile initiatives for the Office of the President, delivering in‑depth analysis, strategic advice, and cross‑functional coordination. Operating in a fast‑paced environment, you will exercise sound judgment, discretion, and political acuity in handling sensitive matters while supporting informed executive decision‑making. Key Responsibilities - Conducting research, analysis, environmental scans, and policy reviews on current and emerging issues, providing strategic advice to the Chief of Staff on risks, opportunities, and long‑term trends; - Preparing high‑quality briefings, reports, presentations, and strategic materials for executive leadership; - Supporting the Chief of Staff with drafting communications, including key messages and speaking notes; - Translating strategic direction into actionable plans, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities; - Identifying risks, assessing, and escalating sensitive or urgent issues, presenting evidence‑based options and recommendations, as well as mitigation strategies; - Coordinating the development of key institutional documents, including the Annual Report and President’s Goals Report; - Supporting executive governance processes, including Executive Council and Dean’s Council, by managing agendas, materials, action tracking, and follow‑ups; - Co‑ordinating Executive Council and Dean’s Council meetings, including managing action and decision logs, preparing and reviewing materials for Chief of Staff review, and tracking timelines and deliverables to ensure emerging issues are identified and escalated as appropriate; - Leading the planning, execution, and evaluation of complex, high‑impact projects identified as institutional strategic priorities by the President; - Developing and maintaining a project management framework, including plans, timelines, and deliverables, and leads projects through all phases of the lifecycle to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, best practices and successful outcomes; - Designing and implementing evaluation processes to assess project outcomes and captures lessons learned to inform future planning and continuous improvement; - Building and maintaining robust, collaborative relationships across the university to support alignment and execution of strategic initiatives; - Providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project team members, as appropriate; and - Working closely with the Executive Assistant and other partners to ensure seamless coordination of executive operations. Skills - A strong understanding of strategic planning, governance, and issues management within a complex organization (preferably in higher education or the public sector); - Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information and develop actionable recommendations; - Advanced project management capabilities, including planning, execution, and evaluation of complex initiatives; - Political acuity, professionalism, and discretion in handling sensitive matters; - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization; - Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and results‑oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines; and - The ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with executive leadership direction. Qualifications - A minimum of a post‑secondary degree in public policy, business, communications, or a related field. - A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible professional experience in strategic planning, project management or a related role. - Experience in strategic planning, policy analysis, or executive‑level project management. - Experience and proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite. - Formal training or certification in project management would be considered an asset. - Training, education, certification or significant experience in project management is a strong asset. - Experience in a post‑secondary or a related public sector environment is a strong asset. - An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
