Job Summary School District 71 is inviting applications for a temporary position of 0.40 FTE Grades 2‑9 Blended Learning HLC Teacher – Inquiry and project‑based learning with outdoor exploration. The role requires face‑to‑face instruction in Windermere, BC and is subject to student enrollment. About the Heartwood Learning Communities (HLC) HLC is a blended learning program serving students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Teachers work in multi‑grade classes, providing face‑to‑face instruction up to 2.5 days per week and supporting families during home‑learning days through various platforms. Responsibilities - Plan, deliver, and assess integration of inquiry‑based and project‑based learning across multiple grades. - Facilitate face‑to‑face instruction and support families through digital platforms. - Create and curate online learning resources (e.g., Desire to Learn, Google Classroom). - Use e‑portfolios (Seesaw), blogs, and websites to support Assessment for Learning practices. - Coordinate and integrate community‑based programs and deliver parent workshops. - Collaborate with a teacher team to advance curriculum integration and personalization. Qualifications - Training, certification, and/or direct experience teaching in an online or blended program in British Columbia. - Experience in place‑based/experiential learning. - Basic First Aid certification (Standard First Aid is an asset). - Demonstrated ability to create and manage online resources for learners and families. - Advanced skills in teaching with e‑portfolios, blogs, websites, and supporting Assessment for Learning. - Commitment to cooperative, inquiry‑based practices in multi‑grade classrooms. - Skill and experience coordinating community‑based programs.
