Purchasing Specialist (Edmonton)

Primary Role Focus Responsible for sourcing raw material and components required for planned and project demands in a timely manner to ensure schedules are met. This role reports to the Supply Chain Manager. Key Tasks and Responsibilities - Determine priorities, schedules, initiate requests for quotations and issue purchase orders - Develop an understanding of supplier base and their capabilities - Upgrade ERP item cards including vendor information, pricing and historical information - Track orders to ensure they are on schedule and update system as required when changes occur - Monitor, expedite, and troubleshoot orders through to completion and update stakeholders as required - Maintain correct and accurate flow of information to ensure a high level of service and satisfaction is delivered to all stakeholders - Fulfill production orders for secondary processes - Work with Accounts Payable department to ensure all vendor invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner Position Requirements Experience and Skills - Purchasing or supply chain experience related to manufacturing is an asset - Understanding of supply chain, product costing, and quality control principles - Working experience with ERP systems (i.e. Business Central, Navision, JDE, SAP, Oracle) - Intermediate Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) - Read and understand engineering drawings - Oil and gas experience an asset - Knowledge of down‑hole product, machining of parts, and sourcing machined parts is an asset Education and Training - High school diploma required - Post‑secondary degree, diploma, or certificate is preferred (i.e. commerce degree, SCMP, Inventory & Production management certificate) Physical and Safety Requirements - Ensure compliance with Packers Plus Health and Safety Program - Position is not safety sensitive, but is subject to post‑incident and reasonable‑suspicion drug & alcohol testing - Extended periods of sitting at a desk and use of a computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse Competencies Packers Plus Values - Customer Intimacy - Operational Excellence - Innovation - People & Culture Role Competencies 1.
