Product Design Specialist / Engineer (Edmonton)

Performs diverse engineering activities involving product evolution and design Supports project personnel for specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, industry standards, customer requirements and related specifications. Provides engineering production support to machining, welding, assembly and other departments Provide technical support for field service, the customer, sales and manufacturing Evaluate and report on new materials, technology and techniques for improving manufacturing and service of the product line In coordination with the quality department, troubleshoots quality issues as it pertains to material rejects, material review, warrantee issues and custom engineering requirements (NCIR’s) Develop, write and implement production procedures as it pertains to the support of engineering functions (i.e. machining, test, assy, etc.). Provides guidance to junior engineers and technical staff on technical issues, corporate policies, project management, and divisional objectives Ensuring compliance with safety principles applicable to the project Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or technical institute 4 or more years of Product Design Experience. Experienced in the use of ANSI, ASME and ISO Drafting Techniques and Geometric Tolerance Good knowledge of Stress Analysis; Good knowledge of the Development and Control of Design Documentation. Proficient Technical Writing. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables and situations where only limited standardization exists. Extensive customer relations and technical sales experience.
