Position Title Senior Estimator Role Overview Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Senior Estimator provides estimating services to support the Project Development, Operations, and Estimating departments. The role is office based; most of the workday is spent in a seated position using general office equipment such as a computer, phone, printer, and scanner. The Senior Estimator coordinates and delivers full estimating services for projects and contract types, working at varying levels of estimating, including conceptual, and across a wide range of project delivery models such as construction management, design‑build, lump sum, and integrated project delivery (IPD). Responsibilities Coordinate tender calls, review Supplier/Sub‑Contractor quotes, and award decisions. Solicit, review, and level subcontracting and material supply quotes. Maintain Sub‑Contractor and Supplier relationships. Maintain a unit‑price and productivity knowledge database. Prepare accurate, complete estimates including quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and sub‑contractor and supplier pricing. Take part in project interviews when necessary. Confer with Engineers, Architects, and Owners on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Assist in the preparation of studies, material methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required. Prepare risk‑mitigation plans and manage risks that may impact estimates. Attend project team meetings. Attend training courses as required and assist in training the estimating team. Maintain and upgrade estimating software, navigating packages such as Word, Excel, OST, Microsoft Scheduler, and Bluebeam. Identify building materials and alternatives for cost reduction. Develop Sub‑Contractor work scopes for tendering. Chair and control meetings. Schematic design of projects from client requirements. Analyze project‑associated risks. Coordinate and supervise group work efforts. Qualifications Post‑Secondary Certificate or Degree in Engineering, or the equivalent of a designated Qualified Engineer, or a Technical School graduate in a construction‑related discipline. Extensive (10+ years) experience as an estimator in the general construction field. Operations experience in the role of Project Coordinator or Project Manager is an asset. Expert knowledge of estimating software (InEight) is an asset. Experience with coaching teams and team‑oriented planning.
