Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Underwriter to join our energetic team within the financial services sector. Senior Underwriter The Senior Underwriter plays a critical role in maintaining the company's financial stability and growth by accurately assessing risk and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive risk analysis by reviewing applicant data, financial statements, and supporting documentation. Collect and analyze relevant data to inform underwriting decisions, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Evaluate applications using established guidelines, considering factors such as creditworthiness, financial stability, and market conditions. Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers, agents, or clients to reach mutually beneficial agreements while managing risk exposure. Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency across the team. Collaborate with actuaries, underwriters, and other stakeholders to refine risk models and improve decision-making processes. Mentor junior underwriters by providing guidance on complex cases and best practices in risk assessment. Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that could impact underwriting strategies. Qualifications Proven experience in underwriting within the financial services industry or related fields such as insurance or banking. Robust skills in negotiation, data collection, and risk analysis. Proficiency in financial analysis, math, accounting principles, and data interpretation tools. Excellent analytical thinking with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to assess complex information quickly and make sound decisions under pressure. Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external partners. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; advanced certifications are a plus.
