Description
As a member of the Alberta Health Services Pharmacy Services team, the Pharmacist I will provide high quality direct patient care for acute care and LTC beds as well as consultative care for patients in the emergency department. This position clinically supports Redwater patients and involves working closely with the technician and/or assistant team at the site to manage drug distribution functions. The pharmacist will also actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds, collaborate with physicians and other team members to optimize patient care, use Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize medication regimens, and facilitate smooth transitions between care settings.
Responsibilities As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. Additionally you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug‑related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Required Qualifications
Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacist.
Additional Required Qualifications
Licensed to practice pharmacy within Alberta.
Have Additional Prescribing Authority (APA) or willingness to complete in 1 year.
Have a Prac ID for lab ordering.
Recent direct patient care experience (at least 1 year within the last 3 years).
Preferred Qualifications
Recent Rural Hospital experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work effectively both in a team environment as well as independently.
Demonstrates computer literacy skills, good time management, and the ability to make decisions and work cooperatively in team environments.
Security Screening A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work. Additionally, all employees have an ongoing duty to disclose any charges or convictions that may occur during their employment with AHS.
