Work Schedule:

Monday– Thursday, 7:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Session Dates:

July 6‑9, July 13‑16, July 20‑23.

Pay:

$23.14 per hour (External candidates). Internal: According to the 2023‑2025 step placement.

Benefits:

This position is not benefit eligible. Benefits are in accordance with the Paraeducator agreement.

Work Year:

Summer 2026.

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and one of the following:

An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree.

Two years of post‑secondary coursework (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) from an accredited institution applicable toward a bachelor’s degree.

Passing score on the ParaEducator test (contact ETS).

Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and restrain students in emergency situations.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Completion of any required training for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably in Education).

Education assistant/paraprofessional or teaching experience.

Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Experience and/or training in behavior management.

Responsibilities

Assist in instruction of students by providing support and practical training across subject matters.

Assist the teacher with:

Implementing instructional plans and adapting/modifying curriculum as directed.

Preparing class schedules.

Organizing learning materials.

Assisting with classroom activities.

Assist educational staff in meeting specific student needs, including but not limited to:

Redirecting inappropriate behaviors in classrooms.

Preparing food and/or feeding students.

Assisting in physical movement of students.

Diapering and toileting students.

Escorting students to vocational training jobs.

Chaperoning student community outings.

Supervising students during bus loading and unloading.

Promote a safe and productive learning environment by communicating with staff about student needs.

Monitor and document educational progress, performing evaluations of student progress and needs.

Record data pertaining to Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).

Maintain confidentiality regarding students and the educational setting.

Other related duties as assigned.

Physical requirements: May be required to walk throughout the building, lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance or push up to 90 pounds, and restrain students with training and assistance when needed. May need to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
