Tower Crane Operator (Fort Saskatchewan)

Job Summary (Union Project - $56.22 + 10% + Pension and perks) We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Tower Crane Operator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating tower cranes efficiently and safely to facilitate various lifting operations on construction sites. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus to ensure clear communication across diverse teams. The Tower Crane Operator plays a critical role in ensuring project timelines are met while maintaining the highest safety standards. Duties - Operate tower cranes to lift, move, and position materials and equipment accurately on construction sites. - Conduct pre-operation inspections of the crane to ensure all safety devices and mechanical components are functioning properly. - Coordinate with ground crew, riggers, and other construction personnel using effective communication skills to execute lifts safely. - Assist with rigging and signaling during lifting operations, ensuring loads are secured properly before movement. - Monitor weather conditions and site hazards continuously to maintain safe operating conditions. - Maintain detailed logs of crane operation activities, inspections, and maintenance needs. - Follow all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents or injuries on site. - Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues or malfunctions with the crane equipment as needed. Experience - Proven experience operating tower cranes in a construction environment is required. - Knowledge of construction site safety standards and procedures. - Familiarity with forklift, boom truck, or other heavy machinery operation is advantageous. - Mechanical knowledge related to crane systems, rigging, and load calculations is preferred. - Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual or multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus for team coordination. - Prior experience with rigging, crane signaling, or customer service in a construction setting is beneficial. - Valid certifications for crane operation (such as Journeyman or Interprovincial or equivalent) is mandatory.
