This posting is part of our ongoing workforce planning and talent pool for Journeyperson and Apprentice Welders. We are building a roster of qualified candidates for upcoming projects across Alberta. Applicants may be contacted for current or future project opportunities. Job Description (Duties) Work assignments may take place at various industrial sites across Alberta. Transportation or LOA (Living Out Allowance) may be provided depending on project requirements. Welders at AG&P; Canada will: - Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding process specifications - Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal components using processes such as GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux-), and SMAW (Stick) - Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting and brazing/soldering equipment - Layout fit, and tack weld components according to project specifications - Operate metal shaping and fabrication machines such as brakes, shears, or rollers - Repair worn or damaged metal parts by welding on extra layers or rebuilding surfaces - Inspect welds for defects and verify conformance using visual and non-destructive testing techniques - Clean and maintain welding tools, equipment, and work areas - Operate robotic or automated welding lines when required, monitoring for quality and precision - Assist with setup, calibration, and minor maintenance of welding and brazing equipment Qualifications - Completion of apprenticeship program or trade certification (Red Seal preferred) - Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in an industrial setting - Valid Journeyperson or Apprenticeship certificate - Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding procedure specifications (WPS) - Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials Safety Tickets (minimum mandatory): - H2S Alive - Fall Protection - Standard First Aid - WHMIS - CSO or CSTS Assets: - CWB qualified welders an asset; All eligible candidates may need to do a practical weld test(s) prior to site work - Confined Space - LOTO - Ground Disturbance Level II Additional Requirements: - Must meet site specific safety requirements prior to mobilization - Ability to perform physically demanding work in industrial and outdoor environments - Comfortable working in varying temperatures, confined spaces, and at heights - Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement - Proficient in English (written and verbal) - Reliable transportation to site - Valid driver’s license and clean 5-year Driver’s Abstract (under 6 demerits) Additional Information Positions are safety-sensitive and subject to drug and alcohol testing and applicable site-required background screening prior to mobilization.
