Engineer - Secondary Processing
to join our Sales&Engineering Team in Woodstock ON.

The Engineer - Secondary Processing will support NASG quoting/sales for costing and implementation activities for all secondary (value add) processing across all production facilities.
Use of programming, controls, and engineering skills to perform improvements, assist plants in trouble shooting of existing, and development of new value-add equipment/processes for awarded business. To be involved in developing new welding techniques, new procedures, and new applications of welding and metal assembly equipment. Uses knowledge of the latest general engineering principles to improve machine efficiency and process improvement.
Responsible for coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects and quoting activities related to secondary processing to support the company’s strategy, commitments, and goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop, estimate&implement assembly tooling&equipment for NASG projects.
Develop, estimate and gain quotes for new assembly processes as future business dictates
Development of offline robotic simulations and programming
Assist in development of the most efficient process layouts and product flow based on TQPS
Participate in the planning and implementation of projects
Review customer requirements and identify best processes to achieve desired results
Participate in gathering and summary of vendor proposals and the vendor selection process
Develop engineering solutions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to product or processes
Developing full scale processes and project plans
Monitor and report results based on“Data” and documentation of new launch projects and existing process improvements
Aid and support to project teams, as required
Present reports defining project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
Establish, lead and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
Manage relationship with suppliers and stakeholders
Ensure all tasks are delivered on time within scope
Develop project scopes and objectives involving all relevant stakeholders ensuring feasibility
Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
Practice risk management to minimize project risks
Report and elevate to management as needed
Research new technologies as requested to keep NASG on the leading edge
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS Education:
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering / Industrial Electronics / Robotics / Electrical Controls / Automation / Metallurgy.
Completion of College level courses in Industrial Manufacturing or significant work experience in the area of Industrial or Automotive Manufacturing will be considered
Experience:
Experience working in a Project Management Manufacturing Process Engineering Capacity
Experience working in the areas of automotive stampings, welding&automation
Experience working in a Project Management Manufacturing Process Engineering Capacity
Experience working in the areas of automotive stampings, welding&automation
MIG&Resistance welding, robots laser welding, vision systems
Machine controls knowledge /experience
Experience in Risk Management and Change Management
Experience and Knowledge in Vendor Management and Capital equipment Projects
Knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of project management
Knowledge of Project Management Software
Experience selecting vendors for projects
Experience with people management and strategic planning
Custom machinery/system build shop experience an asset
Use of data to make sound decisions
Root Cause analysis
Personal/Technical Skills:
Understanding and working knowledge of automotive plants and processes/principles, company products, trade terminology, metal materials, stamping/welding/assembly manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment, die design and maintenance, GD&T and machine operation
Excellent analytical skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong multitasking and organization skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work with a dynamic and demanding team
Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports and graphs
Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization

Sound knowledge of GD&T

Language Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Computer/Software:
Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.)
Proficiency in MS Excel required
Proficiency in MS PowerPoint preferred
SolidWorks / NX / AutoCAD / Inventor software experience
Robotic simulation / offline programming software experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS Plant:
Various types of manufacturing environments.
Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.
PPE ( Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc. may be required in designated engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
Involves moderate or occasional presence of some slightly disagreeable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, odor, etc.
Travel:
Minimal, but some travel will be required to USA, Mexico, Canada.
Salary: $90,000 to $100,000 based on experience and qualifications.
