Assistant Psychologist Pay: £25,147 to £27,596 a year (permanent, full‑time). Company: The Nook Therapy Clinic Location: Old Chambers, Farnham, Surrey Accountable to: Clinical Psychologist Company Overview The Nook Therapy Clinic is a specialist healthcare company working to support children, younger people and their families affected by mental health, Autism and ADHD conditions. We support individuals and families to reach their full potential. Benefits - 20 days’ holiday entitlement, pro‑rata for full‑time employees - Bespoke training, CPD through our online system; training in administration of ADI‑R and ACE interviews Responsibilities - Assist qualified psychologists in the delivery of psychological services. - Provide psychological assessment and specific intervention under supervision, working independently within agreed limits. - Produce assessment and intervention reports. - Conduct parent Autism and ADI‑R interviews (receiving training). - Administer Autism and ADHD screening tools. - Support the service in delivery of training initiatives. - Utilise research skills for audit, literature reviews, service development and other research initiatives. - Receive weekly management and clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist. - Work independently to an appropriate level, showing initiative. - Provide compassionate care based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity. Communication and Relationships Maintain relationships with a wide range of individuals and disciplines, including service users and their families, schools, social care and charity organisations. Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience - An Honours Degree in Psychology (upper second‑class honours or above) recognized for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. - Graduate level training and experience in research and methodological knowledge. - Effective communication skills (verbal & non‑verbal). - Ability to plan and organise work independently within agreed boundaries. - Application of existing psychological knowledge to the clinical population served. - Understanding of psychology applied in a healthcare context. - Positive IT and statistical analysis skills. - Clear written communication via reports. - Experience working with people with mental health problems, disabilities or special needs. - Experience using a variety of research methods. Additional Skills and Effort - Analytical and judgemental skills for assessment procedures and use of tests. - Organisational planning for workload, audits, research and clinical work. - Physical skill: keyboard, handling specialised equipment. - Physical effort: commuting between bases, transporting materials. - Mental effort: concentration for specialised assessments, report writing, research initiatives. - Emotional effort: dealing with upset, anxious, angry clients and challenging behaviours. Other Responsibilities Assist in policy and service development, participate in meetings, maintain professional standards, contribute to research projects, maintain accurate records, use digital recording equipment as per handbook, support staff training.
