The Opportunity Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Grounds Maintenance Aide is responsible for maintaining the outdoor grounds and assisting with general building maintenance to support a safe, clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, volunteers, and staff. This role performs seasonal grounds-keeping, light maintenance duties, waste management, and general property upkeep while ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently. Job Responsibilities Grounds & Property Maintenance - Perform spring and fall property cleanups, including garden beds, walkways, parking lots, and landscaped areas. - Cut grass, trim edges, prune shrubs, and maintain landscaped areas on a regular schedule. - Complete lawn aeration, fertilizing, and related seasonal turf care as required. - Keep exterior building areas clean, safe, and well maintained. - Sweep parking lots and maintain painted parking and safety lines on curbs, steps, and walkways. - Assist with upkeep and repairs of sidewalks, parking areas, and other exterior surfaces. - Set up, maintain, and store seasonal outdoor furniture and decorations. - Perform light interior maintenance duties including painting, replacing ceiling tiles, changing light bulbs, and minor repairs. - Conduct regular inspections to ensure lighting and exterior fixtures are functioning properly. - Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of garbage rooms and bins. - During winter months, this position is responsible for snow clearing, ice management and equipment operation and maintenance. This includes clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, entryways and parking lots to ensure safety and accessibility. - Safely operate outdoor maintenance equipment, tools, and machinery and report issues requiring specialized or professional repair services. - Support special projects and respond to maintenance-related emergencies as required. Qualifications - Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment and power tools safely and effectively and mechanically inclined with basic troubleshooting and repair abilities. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and attractive property. - Ability to recognize when outside qualified services are required. - Previous grounds-keeping, maintenance, or property care experience is considered an asset. - Comfortable and able to interact with residents and ensure a positive experience during interactions. - Vulnerable Sector Search Criminal Record check - Must maintain an up to date immunization record including COVID-19 vaccination series, annual influenza and TB screening. - Valid Drivers License. Hours Full Time; 75 hours bi-weekly. Scheduled daytime hours with flexibility required for emergencies and inclement weather events. Includes rotating on-call and weekends.
