Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Food Service Worker (FSW) to join our Dietary Services Team. Under the supervision of the Nutrition Manager, the FSW is responsible for assisting in the preparation, delivery, and service of nutritious meals to residents, in accordance with the Fixing the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation 246/22, and our commitment to high-quality, resident-centered care. Responsibilities - Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to planned menus and therapeutic diets. - Ensure food is handled and stored safely, following public health standards and internal policies. - Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, dishes, and dining areas following infection prevention protocols. - Portion and label food accurately for tray service and meal delivery. - Interact respectfully with residents, supporting their dietary preferences and needs. - Report any changes in resident food intake or dietary concerns to the Nutrition Manager. - Maintain accurate records (e.g., food temperatures, cleaning logs). - Participate in mandatory in-service education and staff meetings. Qualifications - Enrollment and/or completion of a Food Service Worker program approved by the Ministry of Long-Term Care. - Current Food Handler Certificate recognized by a Public Health Unit in Ontario. - Experience in a long-term care setting is preferred. - Strong understanding of safe food handling, sanitation, and infection control procedures. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with compassion for the elderly and vulnerable populations. - Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - Physically able to lift, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods. Conditions of Employment: - Must provide a explicit vulnerable sector police check. - Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (in accordance with applicable public health mandates). - Completion of all required onboarding training, including WHMIS, fire safety, and resident abuse prevention.
