The Inclusion Program Coordinator (IPC) is responsible for managing inclusive practices within the YWCA Tatamagouche Early Learning Centre. The IPC works in collaboration with centre management and early childhood educators (ECEs) to plan, implement, evaluate, and improve program activities, staff training, and the physical learning environment in accordance with Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility (EDIAA) and other related standards.Responsibilities

Oversee the daily care, education, and supervision of children in the childcare centre.

Plan, implement, and evaluate program activities that promote an inclusive environment for all children.

Provide support to existing programs, assess the physical space and learning environment, and suggest changes that enhance equity and inclusion.

Assist the Early Learning and Child Care Regional Manager with staff training needs and programming objectives.

Work alongside the Centre’s ECEs to enhance the teacher–child ratio and improve daily routines, activities, and programs.

Communicate and collaborate with families, caregivers, and external service providers to ensure every child can participate fully.

Physical Environment

Collaborate with team members to design and maintain culturally responsive, child‑focused indoor and outdoor program learning environments.

Provide active physical play, both indoors and outdoors.

Make recommendations to the Regional Manager regarding physical space, risk management, and maintenance improvements.

Health and Safety

Follow and assess established procedures for diapering, toilet training, and hand washing.

Change children’s wet or soiled clothing when necessary.

Maintain knowledge and compliance of food safety and provincial health and safety guidelines.

Hold certification in food safety, WHMIS, and child abuse protocols.

Assist ECEs in maintaining emergency contacts and first‑aid supplies.

Ensure children are released only to authorized parents or guardians.

Abide by emergency plans and remain calm during drills and evacuations.

Ensure compliance with Department of Education and Early Childhood Development regulations.

Collaborate with the Regional Manager to guarantee the Centre meets all mandatory regulations.

Communication and Professionalism

Respect the confidentiality of all information related to children, families, staff, and program data.

Demonstrate professionalism, self‑evaluate, and pursue professional development opportunities in early child development, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility.

Maintain courteous relationships with co‑workers and management.

Collaborate with the ECE team on new routines and activities that support inclusion.

Coach and set goals with ECEs regarding inclusive programming.

Communicate with families and health professionals about referrals and support for children requiring individualized care.

Coordinate with external partners to support children with diverse needs.

Attend mandatory staff meetings and adhere to professional workplace attire guidelines.

Parents&Children

Maintain professional relationships with families and caregivers.

Act as a resource for families based on individual capabilities.

Integrate new children and parents by explaining policies and procedures.

Provide accurate progress reports on time.

Encourage parent and family involvement in the program.

Program Responsibilities

Assess program developmental suitability.

Assist in program planning for activities, learning experiences, and general classroom conduct.

Integrate culturally responsive and reflective principles into classroom practices.

Establish inclusive classroom routines and smooth transitions.

Communicate with children at appropriate developmental levels.

Set behavior expectations using the YWCA Behaviour Guidance Policy.

Assess and use child data to develop program activities in partnership with the Early Years Curriculum Framework.

Participate in Routine Based Plans (RBPs) and Individual Program Plans (IPPs).

Maintain documentation such as observations, meeting minutes, and progress reports.

Collaborate with the Regional Manager on the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).

Assist team members with classroom management and resource acquisition.

Cover needed ratios as required.

Lead the Provincial Assessment Program (Quality Matters) focusing on environment and relationships.

Oversee classroom material procurement and conduct centre tours and orientation.

Work Conditions

Physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting, bending, stooping, and reaching.

Standing, walking, and emotional management are frequently required.

Shifts are rotating and may extend based on program needs.

Occasional evenings or weekends for meetings or events may be required.

Special Conditions of Employment

Current First Aid with CPR/AED-C, WHMIS, Criminal Record Check (vulnerable sector), Child Abuse Registry Check.

Travel to multiple locations may be required for duties.

Flexibility and dependability are essential.
