Who we're looking for We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Maintenance Worker to join our team at the Hamilton Health Sciences Volunteer Association on a full-time basis; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. This position is primarily based at Juravinski Hospital, however will require flexibility to attend other HHSVA sites based on operational needs. As Maintenance Worker you will be responsible for managing the parking garage at the hospital sites and assisting customers with their parking needs. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and strong customer services skills. What you'll do as a Maintenance Worker: - Performs simple repairs and troubleshooting that do not need professional help (parking facilities; parking equipment; offices) - Ensures cleanliness of parking facilities and parking equipment as per P/T Maintenance Cleaning Checklists, including but not limited to: - Checking all garbage cans in the parking facility at the beginning of each shift and taking garbage out to dumpsters. - Sweeping all parking facilities and picking up trash with emphasis on parking spaces (not only laneways - Cleaning of walls, windows, stairwells; elevators/elevator lobbies in the parking facilities - Dusting all surface areas, wiping down office counters, window ledges, baseboards, telephones, PCs) - Attending to emergencies pertaining to parking equipment (ex. broken gate; terminal out of tickets; receipt jammed etc.) - Cleaning and disinfecting all bathrooms within parking facilities, if applicable - Monitors hazards in the establishments such as those related to fire and electricity as well as potential hazard of falls and slips and reports to Manager, Parking Operations - Informs Manager, Parking Operations about safety hazards and deficiencies the needs of which may require extensive repairs and/or other major renovations in the parking facilities or offices - Directs/redirects traffic as needed - Operates a golf cart as required to patrol garage and complete tasks efficiently - Installs/relocates parking signs - Distributes remaining keys collected by Parking Lot Attendants during their business hours to customers - Checks all parking areas during snow maintenance season to ensure diligent snow maintenance is performed by a contracted vendor as per Winter Hazard Checklist - Other duties as assigned by the Parking Management What you bring - Minimum grade 10 education - 1-2 years related work experience - Knowledge and experience dealing with public - Ability to work well with team members - Ability to lift 5 to 25lbs - Ability to operate small tools (ex. hammer, screwdriver, drill etc.) - Adheres to all health and safety requirements - Ability to perform minor repairs to equipment - G Driver’s license required for the purpose of operating a golf cart to transport passengers (patient/visitors/staff) What we offer - Competitive wages. - Employee Benefits Program. - Opportunities for training and advancement. - Great working workplace. - Free uniform apparel. - Employee Assistance Program. - Employees Discounts and Perks at restaurants, retail, tickets, gyms, etc in the local area.
