Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) – DeGroote School of Business McMaster University is seeking outstanding researchers specializing in energy systems management for consideration as Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) nominees. The successful candidate will enhance the school’s research efforts in optimization and planning within renewable energy, distributed energy resources, microgrids, and energy economics and policy. Eligible nominees must be full professors or associate professors expected to be promoted to full professor within one or two years of the nomination. Candidates from outside the academic sector must possess the qualifications required for appointment at these levels. Researchers holding a full-time academic appointment at a Canadian institution are eligible, provided they are not currently at the nominating institution and the institution demonstrates a net benefit to the country by moving the researcher between Canadian institutions. Responsibilities - Lead world‑leading research in energy systems management, focusing on renewable energy, distributed resources, microgrids, and energy economics and policy. - Develop and manage a research program aligned with the CERC programme priorities. - Secure research funding, publish high‑impact research, and collaborate with industry, government, and academia. - Mentor students, postdoctoral fellows, and early‑career researchers, fostering an equitable and inclusive research environment. - Engage in teaching and curriculum development as a faculty member under the CERC appointment. Qualifications - Full professor or associate professor with a record of promotion to full professor within one or two years, OR a non‑academic skilled with equivalent qualifications. - Demonstrated international research leadership and significant societal impact in energy systems management. - Strong track record of attracting and mentoring a diverse research team. - Experience in securing substantial research funding and leading large, interdisciplinary projects. - Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the integration of EDI considerations throughout the research process.
