Job Overview: The Welder-Fitter works in a custom fabrication machine shop workplace on new fabrications, repairs, build-up, and modifications to existing components and installations. Primary duties include but limited to GTAW and GMAW welding/fitting performed in-house, with the possibility of occasional onsite work. We are currently looking for a welder with a strong background in GMAW GTAW welding, current or expired CWB qualifications preferred. Experience with other materials (Carbon steel, Stainless steel) required, GTAW thin gauge material. Responsibilities and Duties: · Welding as per job requirement · Reading and interpreting drawings including weld symbols · Measuring materials for dimensional in-process and final quality inspection checks · Recording information for inspections · Cutting and preparing material oxy fuel, plasma, mechanical saws. · Pre-weld activities including cleaning, fitting, pre-heating, Responsible for preparation of materials, prior to actual welding operations, and the correct preparation of welding equipment. · Post-weld activities including removing spatter, slag, repair of weld defects, removal heat marks/discoloration Adhere to all company safety standards, work procedure policies. · Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in accordance with company guidelines. Ability to execute in a rapidly changing, quick paced workplace that requires strong teamwork. · Report immediately to supervisor/lead/manager any problems which may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or quality. · Maintaining work-space clean and organized · Using other equipment including but not limited to grinders, torches, iron worker, saw, crane, hand tools Qualifications: · Experience with GTAW and GMAW required (GTAW thin gauge) · Experience with other welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, MCAW an asset · Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum · Able to read and interpret shop drawings and weld symbols · Able to work from samples · Valid driver's license and clean driver’s abstract · Experience in a CWB shop (W47.1 and W47.2) is an asset · Must pass an in-house test before hiring Job Type: Full time Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour Benefits: - Company events - Dental care - Extended health care - On-site parking - Paid time off - RRSP match - Vision care Experience: - Welding: 5 years (preferred) Licence/Certification: - Journeyman (preferred) Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2ogfil
