The Role As a Staff Accountant, you will gain professional experience by working closely with managers and firm leaders. You will primarily prepare various financial and tax file types while learning the foundational skills necessary to progress within the firm. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Prepare diverse client files across corporate, individual, and estate clients in various industries and at varying levels of complexity. - Gain exposure to a broad range of engagements, including Compilations, Reviews, Audits, Personal/Corporate/Trust Tax Returns, as well as special consulting engagements. - Learn and adhere to high standards of attention to detail, quality of work, and professionalism as a core expectation of client service. - Actively learn from Managers and other firm leaders with the goal of developing into a Senior Accountant role. - Handle administrative duties related to client service, including record pick-up, drop-off, and internal coordination as required. We offer - Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications - Performance-based annual bonus - Vacation entitlement (please inquire for specifics) - Extensive learning opportunities - Career development: CPA-approved training office (External Audit Program), CPA membership dues paid, and tuition reimbursement for approved courses - Adaptable working hours - Group benefits plan - Hybrid work model Qualifications The Candidate Must-Have Skills and Core Competencies - Minimum of 1 year of recent Public Accounting experience. - Bachelor's Degree. - Strong technical skills in accounting, auditing, and tax compliance. - Proficient with CaseWare/Caseview, Jazzit, Excel, and TaxPrep. - Foundational knowledge of Canadian tax (personal, corporate, excise) and/or Canadian GAAPs (ASPE and ASNPO). - Ability to reliably commute to Hamilton, ON L8N 1L3 or plan to relocate before starting work. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Professional working proficiency in English). - Demonstrated commitment to attention to detail and consistent high quality of work. - High level of professionalism and client service orientation.
