Description
Online Course Designer and Developer Reporting to the Manager, Distance Learning, the Online Course Designer and Developer is responsible for working collaboratively with the Arctic College staff and the Department of Education in assessing instructional design solutions for the successful delivery of courses via distance learning. The successful incumbent will be expected to design and develop curriculum for new courses, when required, ensuring academic guidelines and policies are followed. The incumbent will also play a major role in building a virtual campus at NAC.

Key Responsibilities

Developing in‑house instructional design capacity.

Providing mentorship and support to adult educators/facilitators/instructors.

Supporting and assisting in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of the PASS program and other distance learning initiatives.

Coordinating people, facilities and equipment for training delivery.

Education and Experience The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a related field to Distance Learning combined with a minimum of two (2) years related experience in the field of education which must include course work in one of the following: instructional design, curriculum development or adult learning.

Language and Cultural Requirements Fluency in English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross‑cultural environment are also considered assets. Additional Information This role is a term position for non‑Inuit candidates. Current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval. An eligibility list may be created to fill future vacancies.
