Mechanical Engineer (Kamloops)

MECHANICAL ENGINEER Activity sector: Pulp and Paper Site: Kamloops, BC Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,140 Schedule: Compressed Work Week (9-hour dayshifts, every other Friday off) YOUR ROLE Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will be involved with projects, maintenance, and reliability assignments. Your Responsibilities - Managing and executing mill capital and major maintenance projects - Working closely with Area Manufacturing Superintendents, Maintenance Supervisors and Process Engineers to implement mill design changes and improvements - Analyzing and engineering‑out repetitive mechanical problems - Preparing and coordinating maintenance shutdowns - Supervising the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with all company policies, governmental regulations, and facility operating and housekeeping standards Your Skills And Abilities - Team player with solid written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work across organizational boundaries - Strong organizational skills - Self‑starter with strong personal initiative and follow‑through Your Qualifications Required: - Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent - Minimum of 4 years industrial experience, and eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia Preferred: - Pulp and Paper experience - Project management and construction management experience - Knowledge and experience with ASME Boiler/Pressure Vessel Code Benefits Competitive group insurance, registered pension plans and continuing education programs.
