Position Summary We are currently seeking an experienced Recreation Therapy Worker to join our team at Coquihalla Gillis House in Merritt, BC. As a valued member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in implementing our established Recreation Therapy Program, ensuring the well-being and enjoyment of our residents.

Position Information This is a relief part‑time (0.93 FTE) position working rotating evening shifts from 12:00 to 20:00. Eligible employees can apply for internal postings, opening doors to permanent part‑time or full‑time positions. Your Role As a Recreation Therapy Worker, you’ll play a key role in enriching the quality of life for residents by delivering engaging and meaningful recreation therapy programs. Working closely with the interdisciplinary team, you’ll facilitate individual and group activities such as arts, music, crafts, sports, gardening, cultural events, and fitness, ensuring each program is adapted to meet residents’ physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual needs. You’ll also support residents in participating in community outings, assist with special events, and provide encouragement that fosters independence and social connection. Through your creativity and compassion, you’ll help create an inclusive environment where residents can thrive and feel a true sense of purpose and belonging.

Qualifications

Grade 12

Completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
