Ogilvie Mountain Holdings LP is a pipeline construction and maintenance contractor based out of Hope, BC. We specialize in pipeline maintenance involving integrity digs, cut-outs, and construction related activities including valve installs, piping upgrades, hydrotesting and varies activities related to operation and upgrades to pipeline infrastructure. Welder Helper $24.00 - $30.00 The position we are seeking to fill is a Welder Helper in the Kamloops area for our AWS Division of Ogilvie Mountain Holding LP. The successful candidate’s role is general labourer roles, and to assist the welding department by performing housekeeping and entry level duties as to maximize the output and efficiency of the Journeyman and apprentice welders. The ideal candidate must be okay with flexibility as this position has short notice plan changes, weekend work and willing to travel as needed for jobs. Key Responsibilities - Assist in all areas throughout the shop and primarily assist tradespeople and supervisors to complete their tasks. - Welding, sandblasting, painting, dismantling, and repairing equipment. - Prepare and align bolted flanges - Apply general knowledge of tools and equipment. - Operate picker truck for lifting and moving equipment/materials - Organize the shop as efficiently as possible. - Adheres to all Company and legislative Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. - Other various shop duties as assigned. Core Competencies - Some understanding of welding processes. - Experience in a heavy industrial and manufacturing environment. - Ability to work safely and maintain a clean work environment. - Must be capable of using grinders, cutting torches and other equipment used to handle structural metal. - Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions. - Rigging experience - Ability to maintain professionalism always and work with limited supervision. - Organizational and time management abilities. - Basic computer knowledge and ability to complete reports as required. - Ability to prioritize urgency based on production requirements. - Results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal skills. - Ability to multi-task and meet objectives/deliverables. - High standards for work, meticulous, with great attention to detail and strong analytical skills. - Confident, resourceful, and highly motivated Requirements - Valid First Aid Level 1, H2S Alive and Ground Disturbance. - Valid unrestricted driver’s license and clean drivers abstract. - Complete any Corporate Orientation and WHMIS. - Drug and Alcohol testing, as required. - Experience with bolted flange assembly - Valid picker truck / boom truck experience - Hotline Experience an asset. - Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. - Excellent time management and multi-tasking with ability to prioritize in a demanding environment. - Proven ability to build robust relationships with customers and commitment to providing exceptional service. - Strong communication, creativity and problem-solving skills. - Willingness to work out of town, as required – LOA provided. - Attention to detail and accuracy. - Physical Demands: Position requires employee to frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, reach and kneel. Employees must be able to lift 50 lbs above shoulder height. Operation of jackhammers, rock drills and air wands are frequent tasks.
