IHA-12166 Status: Open Site: Royal Inland Hospital Site Type: Hospital Type of Position: Permanent Date Range Hours of Work: Full time On Call Qualifications, Education and Skills - Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License – Full - Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory - Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory Role and Facility Information Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) in Kamloops is seeking a full time Gastroenterologist to join a collaborative and skilled group dedicated to exceptional patient care. This role offers a rewarding mix of hospital-based and community practice within a team that values collegiality, shared expertise, and high quality service. Our gastroenterologists provide general gastroenterology and hepatology care through a referral-based practice that includes participation in the provincial Colorectal Cancer Screening Program. The group operates with a centralized referral system and a unified EMR (Accuro), which the successful candidate will be welcomed into. Additional GI subspecialty training is welcomed but not required. The division is supported by a colorectal surgeon with advanced IBD expertise. Clinical work includes inpatient consultations and participation in the GI on call rotation. Advanced procedural capabilities at RIH include EUS, ERCP, endoluminal stenting, pH studies, esophageal motility testing, and cancer therapy (excluding radiation). A major expansion of cancer services is underway, with a recent cancer centre – including radiation therapy – scheduled to open in 2028. The Hepatology/Viral Hepatitis Clinic offers specialized nursing support and FibroScan technology, with optional clinic participation. Interventional radiology services and rotating gastroenterology fellows further enhance the depth of practice. The department benefits from strong working relationships with general surgeons, GPs/hospitalists, and highly skilled RNs, creating a supportive and collegial clinical environment. Teaching opportunities are available through RIH’s affiliation with the UBC Faculty of Medicine, with involvement in training medical students and residents. Leadership development opportunities are available through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program. Locum opportunities are also available for those interested in short term or flexible work. Compensation Compensation Type: Fee-for-Service Estimated Remuneration: $650,000 - 750,000 plus MOCAP level 2 Physician Overhead: Related to maintaining a private practice Perks and Incentives - Relocation Funding Available – reimbursement up to a maximum of $9,000 for moves within BC, $12,000 for moves within Canada, and $15,000 for those relocating from outside Canada (with eligible detailed receipts) - Relocation incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at the time of offer.
