We provide these services to federal, provincial, regional, local and Indigenous governments, to the forestry, energy, mines, petroleum, transportation and utility sectors, and to numerous regional invasive species organizations across Canada. Paid travel time and accommodations when away from home. All equipment supplied. Potential for work that extends past the tree-planting season. Key Responsibilities: Lead and direct a team of field technicians in executing vegetation management tasks. Assign daily tasks to crew members based on the projects goals, ensuring tasks are completed on time and according to safety and environmental guidelines. Oversee and participate in the identification, assessment, and treatment of invasive plant species using methods such as chemical control (herbicides), mechanical control (cutting, mowing), and biological control (introducing natural predators). Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring all crew members use appropriate protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures when working with chemicals, machinery, and in hazardous conditions (e.g., near roads, power lines). Conduct regular safety meetings and on-site training sessions for the crew. Collaborate with project managers, landowners, environmental agencies, or other stakeholders to coordinate tasks, communicate progress, and address challenges related to invasive plant management projects. Keep accurate records of invasive plant management activities, including areas treated, techniques used, herbicides applied, and any challenges encountered. Provide regular progress updates to project managers or supervisors, including reporting on crew productivity and any issues that may affect project timelines or outcomes. Other duties as required Experience and Knowledge Expectations: 2-3 years of Vegetation Management experience. Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset. A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver''s License, or equivalent, and a current Drivers Abstract. Previous experience operating ATVs and pick-up trucks safely on various road conditions is an asset. Previous experience in a supervisory role would be considered an asset. Preference may be given to candidates holding a valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent. Pre-employment drug testing required for safety sensitive positions. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field. The ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time. Experience working with chainsaws would be considered an asset.
