Job Title: Campus United Community Connector, University of British Columbia Okanagan Application Deadline: June 8, 2026 (or when positions are filled) Job Start Date: 28 June 2026 Pay: $21/hour In-person Campus United, the campus ministry network in British Columbia and Yukon (Pacific Mountain Regional Council) and Southern Alberta (Chinook Winds Regional Council) of the United Church of Canada, are seeking individuals to fill the role of Community Connector for a one-year contract on a full/part-time (30 hours/week July-August, 6-8 hours/week September-May) basis. There are up to two positions available at multiple post secondary institutions in collaboration with nearby United Church communities of faith. Local United Church hosts Campus United for UBCO. Community Connectors will lead from their lived reality and post-secondary knowledge and inform the direction of the ministry. Candidates should attend UBCO. The Community Connector position is one of meaningful work centred around social justice, spirituality, community, as well as individual and systemic learning. We’re seeking curious, innovative, and compassionate young adults to join the inclusive and open-minded campus ministry team. Community Connectors will work 30 hours per week June 28 through Aug 22 (including a week-long residential retreat focused on Leadership Development June 28 - July 3 on Vancouver Island) and an average of 5-8 hours per week throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. This position pays $21 per hour. Successful candidates need to be willing to lead in an affirming (meaning LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive) religious community whose values include bold discipleship, daring social justice, and deep spiritualty. Previous experience with (congregational) church community is an asset, but not required. Responsibilities include - Creating opportunities to engage with students in person (and online) at the post-secondary institutions they represent - Participating in wider church and community events to network with post-secondary institution students providing a place of welcome and community - Supporting work of the chaplains - Understanding and interpreting to the staff team the needs of students and young adults - Working with the staff team in the delivery of existing programs - Collaborating with the staff team in the creation and development of current programs in particular a social justice project for the term of employment Candidates must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. Most of these positions are funded by Canada Summer Jobs which means the candidates are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or have refugee status in Canada.
