Heavy Equipment Operator/Labourer (Kelowna)

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Labourer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various heavy machinery and assisting with construction projects. This role requires mechanical aptitude, safety awareness, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment. Experience with equipment such as excavators, and skid steers is essential. The position offers an opportunity to contribute developing technical skills in heavy equipment operation. Duties - Operate heavy machinery including loaders, excavators, skid steer to perform earthmoving, and site preparation tasks. - Assist with construction activities such as house foundation excavation, backfills, shallow utilities, sewer and septic, and post pounding - Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure safety and optimal performance. - Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment to prevent accidents. - Support team members with manual labour tasks related to site development and material handling. - Utilize mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues and performing basic repairs when necessary. - Drive commercial vehicles as needed for transporting equipment or materials between sites. Experience - Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment. - Knowledge of mechanical systems related to heavy machinery and basic troubleshooting skills. - Prior experience in construction or similar industrial environments is preferred. - Valid commercial driver’s license class 3/1 is a plus. - Ability to work safely in a fast-paced construction setting while adhering to all safety regulations and standards.
