Part-time Seasonal Assistant (Kelowna)

The Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market is now hiring a part-time seasonal Assistant to the Market Co-Coordinator for the 2026 Season. The Assistant will support the Market Co-Coordinator and Staff, with the day-to-day operations of the Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market, every Wednesday and Saturday until October 31, 2026. This is a part-time position and the expectation is to work an average of 22 -25 hours per week. Possible year round employement for the right person. We are looking for an amazing new addition to our team. Someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly, courteous with an approachable personality. This would be a great job for someone looking to gather experience in the local food economy, sustainable agriculture or the non-profit sector. It would also be perfect for a Student, semi-retired or retired person. Requirements: - Assist the Market Co-Coordinator in the day-to-day operations of the Market - Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment in all weather conditions - Comfortable in adjusting to variable work conditions and adapting priorities - Outstanding customer service skills - Strong intrapersonal and communication skills - Adhere to Market policies, guidelines and Rules of Operation - Basic capacity to work with numbers, count cash and perform simple math - Aid in the implementation of planned special events and festivals - Ability to work with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds. - Ability to stand/walk around the Market with minimal opportunities to sit down. - Basic computer skills - Assist with other activities as directed Preferred Qualifications: - Background in local food systems and/or community programs - Familiar with customer service principles and practices. - Attention to detail - Some Social Media skills - Effective time management skills and ability to accomplish work related duties with minimal supervision. Examples of Job Duties: - Help to set-up, or take-down and clean-up all market infrastructure including tents, tables and chairs and maintain a clean, organized site. - Assist the Market Co-Coordinator and staff with all essential functions of weekly markets, including operating credit card/debit machine. - Picking up and dropping off information to vendors - Providing information to customers, visitors and vendors regarding the market and events/activities that are scheduled in the local area - Additional tasks as assigned by the Market Co-Coordinator to support general operations.
