Description The Big White Ski&Board School is seeking CASI Level 3+ instructors for Staff Trainer positions. We are looking for experienced instructors, preferably holding CASI Evaluator certification (Level 1 or higher), to join our team as Snowboard Instructor and Trainer. This seasonal, full‑time position requires working five or more days a week as needed to meet business demands.
Responsibilities Trainers will be responsible for providing training on the following Ski&Board programs:
In‑house staff training for Big White Ski&Board School ski instructors. The in‑house training program runs throughout the season, seven days a week, and includes training sessions, mentorship, and lesson shadowing. The goal is to enhance the quality of the lessons delivered to clients and develop instructors’ teaching and snowboarding skills.
GAP training program. GAP runs from mid‑January to the third week of March, Monday to Friday. The trainer’s day consists of up to seven hours per day and focuses on training participants using the CASI methodology for teaching and snowboarding to meet the standards required to complete the CASI Level 1 and 2 courses.
Additional duties and responsibilities include:
Teach snowboard lessons to adults and children, in group and private settings, using the CASI teaching methodology and following Big White Ski&Board School’s progression levels.
Teach clients and demonstrate quality lessons relevant to students’ ability levels.
Evaluate lesson participants and complete achievement records where necessary.
Work with safety in mind to safeguard guests and fellow workers.
Plan lesson content to create a safe and fun learning experience.
Evaluate instructors’ lessons where scheduled, providing written and verbal feedback for staff evaluations.
Ensure effective public relations and problem‑solving as required.
Work cooperatively and maintain ongoing communication with other program trainers and staff.
Collaborate with the Technical Director to aid in the development and improvement of the training program.
Take appropriate action to deal with incidents and emergencies, as outlined in the ski&board school’s policies and procedures.
Attend all paid training sessions.
Act as a role model for instructors and foster an approachable, open level of communication.
Assist with promoting ski&board school programs.
Position Requirements
Previous experience delivering training for staff or GAP participants in a ski&snowboard school environment.
Have and will attend evaluator training as required by CASI.
Three or more seasons of instructing experience in organized settings are definite assets.
All applicants should submit a cover letter and resume, along with two contactable references and a copy of relevant current certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
CASI Level 1 Evaluator or above.
Level 3 or higher or international equivalent certifications.
Experience teaching adults and children.
Experience in leadership or mentor roles.
Salary Starting wage: $27.50 to $36.00, plus sales incentives, with increases dependent on further relevant instructional certifications and time‑based accruals.
Start Date Target start date: mid‑December.
