Marketing and Communications Officer (Agriculture) (Kelowna)

The BC Fruit Growers' Association (BCFGA) is seeking an ambitious and creative Communications & Marketing Officer for a temporary full-time 8-10 week Canada Summer Jobs position based in Kelowna, BC. Working closely with BCFGA staff, the successful candidate will help strengthen communications and engagement within BC's tree fruit sector by developing an annual communications strategy while supporting social media, newsletters, digital communications, and grower engagement initiatives throughout the summer. Founded in 1889, BCFGA represents approximately 300 farming families and agricultural businesses across the Okanagan, Similkameen, and Creston Valleys. We advocate for growers, support research and innovation, and work with government and industry partners to strengthen the future of BC tree fruit production. What You'll Do - Develop a year-round communications calendar for BCFGA - Help shape seasonal communications and member engagement strategies - Support development of the weekly newsletter - Create content for social media, newsletters, and the BCFGA website - Draft grower stories, industry updates, and promotional materials - Support communications for meetings, workshops, and industry events - Monitor engagement and recommend communication improvements Summer Project Deliverables - Develop an Annual Communications Strategy, including seasonal messaging themes, communications planning, and member engagement recommendations - Support Digital Communications & Marketing activities through content creation, social media management, newsletters, website updates, and outreach initiatives What We're Looking For - Solid writing and communication skills - Interest in communications, marketing, public relations, agriculture, journalism, business, or a related field - Creative, organized, and self-motivated - Comfortable using social media and digital communication tools - Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Mailchimp, and social media management tools is considered an asset but is not required. Eligibility Requirements This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
