Role Overview: The Graphic Designer is responsible for one thing: getting people to click. Your job is to design thumbnails and other graphics that are clear, obvious, high-contrast, and instantly understandable, even when viewed small on a phone. Great thumbnails dont confuse people. They dont say too much. They communicate one idea, fast. You work closely with Creative Directors to iterate quickly, improve clarity, and increase click-through rate. If a thumbnail underperforms, you revise it. If one works, you study why and repeat the pattern. This role is about skill, responsibility, and execution. Core Responsibilities: - Create YouTube thumbnails that follow proven attention and clarity principles. - Apply the 3-Element Rule: Every thumbnail should feature no more than 3 main elements (ex: face, text, visual cue). - Ensure thumbnails are legible and impactful when zoomed out or viewed on a small screen. - Use high contrast: light vs dark, colour contrast, and clear typography that pops instantly. - Make the video topic obvious at a glance. The viewer should understand the idea with their brain turned off. - Keep text minimal, bold, and readable. Fewer words, less clutter, stronger message. - Revise thumbnails based on Creative Director feedback in a designated Slack channel. - Actively study high-performing thumbnails from other channels to inform your designs. - Additional design tasks as needed to support the content pipeline. Required Skills: - Strong graphic design fundamentals (contrast, hierarchy, composition, typography) - Experience designing YouTube thumbnails or social media visuals - Ability to design for performance, not personal taste - Comfort receiving direct feedback and iterating quickly - Organized, reliable, and deadline-driven - Clear communication and follow-through Schedule: Part time Location: North America, remote position Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2ps5ak
