Electrical Engineer (South Slocan)

We’re hiring: Electrical Engineer - Induction Heating & Controls (Contract | 3-6 months | South Slocan, BC | $50-$60/hr) DROP Sprockets Inc., part of Weller Metalworks, is looking for a hands‑on Electrical Engineer to support commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of induction heating and industrial control systems in our manufacturing plant. This is a practical, plant‑floor engineering role focused on high‑power electrical systems, induction heating equipment, PLC controls, reliability, and process improvement. Key areas of work include: Troubleshooting induction heating systems, including power supplies, coils, cooling systems, and heating consistency Supporting high‑power electrical systems, inverters, rectifiers, and high‑frequency power supplies Working with PLCs, HMIs, PID temperature control loops, safety interlocks, and machine protection systems Supporting preventive and predictive maintenance improvements Performing root‑cause analysis and recommending reliability upgrades Reviewing electrical drawings and supporting equipment retrofits Required experience Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent technical experience 3+ years in an industrial or manufacturing workplace Strong troubleshooting skills with 480V / 600V industrial power systems, motor controls, and electrical circuits Experience with induction heating, power electronics, Allen‑Bradley or Siemens PLCs, heat treatment, machining, or heavy industry would be a solid asset This role is for someone who prefers real equipment, real constraints, and real plant‑floor problem solving over desk‑only engineering.
