About us Frontenac Club an historic boutique hotel in downtown Kingston, ON K7L 3A7. Our Bank Gastrobar and Patio is a destination cocktail lounge and dining venue. We host weddings, parties and special events in addition to our regular operating hours. We are social, collaborative, and creative. We are a small, close knit team and our environment is supportive and professional. We are locally owned and operated and are known for our support of the Kingston hospitality scene. Our work environment includes - On-the-job training - Lively atmosphere The Bank Gastrobar at the Frontenac Club is seeking an experienced Kitchen Team Member who is flexible, willing to learn and looking for growth. We are a very small kitchen, so the person and position that we are looking to fill are both unique. The role is to be a First Cook; able to do prep work; assist on the line; act as leader during service and able to support weddings and event service. Our kitchen is lively and social and our relationship with the service team is close and collaborative. If you like to multi-task, learn on the job, and can balance working independently and as a team member, then we have a role for you. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about great food and has at least 2 years training and/or experience in an upscale or fine-dining kitchen environment. Formal training, safe food handling and a proven track record for safety are all great assets for any applicant. Responsibilities: · Prepare, cook and plate food items according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. · Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices. · Collaborate with kitchen team to plan and develop recipes and menus, considering such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients and the anticipated number of customers. · Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations. Requirements: · At least 2 years of experience as a cook in a busy kitchen environment. · Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. · Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. · Solid communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and leadership. · Ability to assist in inventory and food cost control activities. · Experience in menu planning and recipe development assets. · Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. · Good physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time.
