WSP’s RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada. The team consists of environmental technicians, project coordinators, project managers, technical experts, and qualified professionals. We have been providing contaminated site program management services to the world’s most technically focused companies for over 15 years, consistently maintaining a backlog of 9 to 12 months and offering growth opportunities to high‑performing team members.

We specialize in health and safety, Phase I/II environmental site assessments (ESAs), risk assessment, and remediation. Our projects range in type, size, and complexity, covering the entire country, and the successful candidate will manage a substantial amount of field work efficiently and effectively.

WSP has a new opportunity for a Contaminated Sites Project Manager to join our Remediation Program Management team based in Kingston, Toronto, London, and Ottawa. This role requires managing the risk and closure of contaminated sites, overseeing field work related to monitoring, investigating, and remediating sites impacted by hydrocarbons, fertilizers, and metals, and preparing technical reports.

Responsibilities

Create a safe and positive environment for colleagues.

Lead a project team and take on responsibilities including:

Preparing health and safety plans and emergency response plans.

Preparation of proposals and cost estimates.

Scheduling field staff and subcontractors.

Report writing, including preparing conclusions and recommendations.

Project accounting, tracking, and reporting in line with WSP’s Master Services Agreements.

Training junior staff in environmental practices including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, and remediation oversight.

Training staff on site‑specific health and safety.

Manage client relationships.

Collaborate across the national RPM team and WSP.

Provide guidance and mentorship to environmental scientists.

Develop a personal career development plan with specific goals to achieve career aspirations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field (sciences and/or engineering).

Minimum eight years of experience in contaminated site assessments.

Sound understanding of health and safety procedures in the workplace and a safety‑conscious attitude.

Analytical mindset with ability to make recommendations on next steps for client sites.

Strong business acumen and financial management experience, including developing, tracking, and forecasting annual budgets.

Previous experience with soil and groundwater sampling and remediation.

Understanding of Ontario environmental regulations.

Professional designation preferred.

Experience in the oil and gas sector is an asset.

Preference will be given to those with extensive experience in soil and groundwater monitoring programs, Phase I and II ESAs, site remediation, and provincial regulations.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK&YK: $89,800– $118,900

MB&ON: $81,900– $112,800

NB, NL, NS, PEI&QC: $81,100– $107,700

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The wage range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
